SGF, Magu's probe: New twist as minister of justice and Senate leader meets with Buhari

- Senate leader Ndume and minister of justice Malami had a private meeting with President Buhari at the Presidential Villa
- This may not be unconnected with the investigation into alleged corrupt practices leveled against SGF Babachir and EFCC boss Magu
- Ndume said investigations were still ongoing
There may be a new twist in the investigation of alleged corrupt practices leveled against the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Engr. Lawal Babachir and acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu.
Vanguard reports that both men may be getting a soft landing as the Senate leader Ali Ndume and the minister of justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami Malami, paid a visit to President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa on Monday, December 19.
Senate leader Ndume said Magu and Babachir's issues were still a work in progress

Malami refused to speak to newsmen after the meeting.

Ndume who spoke to newsmen after the closed door meeting with the president gave an impression of new twist to the issues.
According to him, the SGF had not been indicted of any wrong doing by the Senate neither has the nomination of Magu as EFCC chairman been rejected.
He said both issues were still a work in progress as the security of the Department of State Service, DSS which indicted Magu would be further investigated.
Ndume explained that the Senate only stepped down Magu’s screening until issues surrounding the security report concerning him are cleared.
Recall that the SGF had been fonud culpable in the management of funds meant for the welfare of the Internally Displaced Persons in the north east. He was said to be making millions of naira of public funds from non-executed contracts in the troubled north-east using one of his companies.
Also, last week, the Senate rejected Magu’s nomination and declined to confirm him as EFCC chairman, citing a DSS security report as its reason.
Meanwhile, on Sunday, Buhari directed the minister of justice to investigate both men
